Endoscopic Ultrasonography Training Program
Endoscopic Ultrasonography Training Program
Module 1 (Diagnostic)
Understanding of the indications, risks, limitations and complications of diagnostic endoscopic ultrasonography. Upper gastrointestinal, rectal, hepatic and biliopancreatic diagnostic ultrasonography. Knowledge of the different biomedical devices and/or accessories involved in this technique. Learning skills and abilities to perform diagnostic endoscopic ultrasonography within a theoretical framework provided by the instructors.
Module 2 (Therapeutic)
Understanding of the indications, risks, limitations and complications of therapeutic endoscopic ultrasonography. Fine needle aspiration puncture (FNA). Knowledge of the different biomedical devices and/or accessories involved in this technique. Learning skills and abilities to perform therapeutic endoscopic ultrasonography within a theoretical framework provided by the instructors.
Module 3 (Advanced)
Understandingof the indications, risks, limitations and complications of advanced endoscopic ultrasonography. Therapeutic procedures with curative or palliative intent (bilio-enteric shunts, pseudocyst drainage, prosthesis placement by apposition of lumens, therapeutic implants or injections of substances, blockage or neurolysis of the celiac plexus). Knowledge of the different biomedical devices and/or accessories involved in this technique. Learning skills and abilities to perform advanced therapeutic endoscopic endoscopic ultrasonography within a theoretical framework provided by the instructors.
Development of clinical research studies of new techniques, technological innovation and/or new applications of the existing ones in Endoscopic Ultrasonography.
• Ultrasound-guided cholangiopancreatography.
• Echoguided angiography.
• Ablation by radiofrequency ablation or injection of substances.
• Echoguided endovascular interventionism (e.g. obliteration of gastric varices, measurement of portal pressures, etc.).
